THOU ART LORD - Eosforos, MC
THOU ART LORD stands as one of the early, influential acts in the development of the distinctive Hellenic style of black metal. Renowned for its raw and chaotic energy, the band’s sound is equally characterized by melodic elements and a haunting, atmospheric undercurrent. Featuring two titans of the Greek metal scene—Sakis Tolis (Necromayhem) of Rotting Christ and Magus Wampyr Daoloth of Necromantia—along with Gothmog on vocals, THOU ART LORD emerged as a key figure in the second wave of black metal.
The band first made its mark with the 1993 demo The Cult of the Horned One, which showcased a potent blend of black metal infused with the signature traits of its members’ main projects. This was followed in 1994 by their landmark debut album, “Eosforos”, a milestone in occult and satanic Hellenic black metal. Revered as a cult classic, “Eosforos” earned its place alongside other seminal Greek releases of the era, such as Thy Mighty Contract, Crossing the Fiery Path, and His Majesty at the Swamp.
Recorded at Storm Studio in the spring of 1994, “Eosforos” combined the raw aggression of primitive black metal with atmospheric keyboards, creating a dark, otherworldly mood amid the ferocity. The album also featured a guest vocal performance by Mika Luttinen of Finland’s black metal legends, Impaled Nazarene, further cementing its status as a cornerstone of the genre.
